AWESOME KID, JAYLAH NEWSON, CREATES BACKPACKS TO HELP THE HOMELESS

Jayla was only five years old when she and her mom came upon a woman and her three year old child living on the street. Jayla wanted to take them home with her, but that wasn’t possible. So instead, she filled an old backpack with some toys and snacks and asked her mom to take her back to that same street corner. She saw how happy these gifts made the little girl and her mother, and decided immediately that she wanted to keep doing this. And that was the beginning of Jayla’s Little Helping Hands.

News of one little girl’s big heart spread well beyond her Virginia Beach community. It was a thrill for Jayla to be an invited guest on several TV shows, including The Today Show, but her mom, Lakesia is quick to say,

“We don’t do this for recognition. We do it from our heart to see the smiles on these people’s faces.”

Oh, if only there were more Jayla’s in this world, with moms who would encourage and support spreading around a little love to the less fortunate.
