INSPIRING STORY OF THE WEEK

A BABY FOR SUNSHINE

by CARINE NADEL

This is the inspiring story of a family who hardly wanted another kitten in their live, but . . .

When their daughter, Sarah dropped something warm into Carine’s lap, she saw a month-old gray tabby pressing against her rib cage. He looked cute as could be, except for his two, slightly deformed front legs. Carine noticed her husband’s jaw start to twitch, but Sunshine, their 6 ½ year old lab mix, came right up beside her. First she started to sniff, and then she started to lick him. And once the kissing began, she just wouldn’t stop. Love at first sight for the two of them.

At this point, Carine and her hubby were not pleased. You see, it had been eight years since they had owned a cat. After their beloved, yet rather troublesome, Snowy had passed on, they swore NO MORE CATS!

Yet, there in her lap sat this cute, pathetic, deformed tabby. And in less than two minutes, Sunshine had decided he was her baby.

 Troubles with Tabby

The next few weeks were not easy. This tabby did several jobs of leaving the leftovers of life on their living room sofas. In no time at all, he had ruined their family room leather recliners with his nails. Carine firmly told her daughter she just wasn’t up to training another baby at this point in her life. Well, she tried. She even called cat rescues, but they couldn’t find a another home for him.

Decision Making Time

Meanwhile, the little bugger wormed his way into the hearts of the entire Nadel family. And that included Sunshine, who had decided she was his canine mom. She even taught him manners, the way a good mother should.

The wind up came six months later when their daughter and son-in-law wanted to take Tabby with them to their new home. Guess who won?
