When Christian was seven years old, he learned that his family might be moving to Germany for my dad’s job. When his mom showed him the website for the school he would be attending, all he could think about was that he would be the new kid on the block. He pictured himself at recess time. Would he have anyone to play with? He was just in first grade then, but he had seen that happen on the playground at his elementary school in York, Pa.
But something else caught his eye on that website. It was called the Buddy Bench. The idea was that if a child was sitting on it alone, it was a signal to the other kids to ask them to play.
Although his family never did move to Germany, Christian kept thinking about the Buddy Bench, and brought the idea to his principal.
It all started on this one school playground, but has now become an international success.
Christian’s story, Welcome to the Buddy Bench, is now published in Tales2Inspire ~ The Pearl Collection
