From the day Roman’s family adopted their dog, Luna, from a Texas ‘kill’ shelter, they were sunk! Roamn helped his mom make videos to spread the word to connect shelter dogs with “forever families.” In one video, Roman was seen showing off a dog for potential adopters, explaining its breed, age, and why they needed to be adopted.
Their efforts have helped save 1,050 dogs since Project Freedom Ride started in December 2016. Once they match the dogs with new owners or Humane Societies in the Pacific Northwest, Project Freedom Ride hires a transport company to get the pups across the country.
The process brings the dogs safely to their new owners, but it costs about $11,000 per transport. It is a big mission to vet the dogs, transport them and place them with families or in a Humane Society. Roman and his mom raise that money through donations. Roman loves dogs and is proud to have helped rescue so many of them from Texas kill shelters — including two dogs of his own – and find forever homes in the Pacific Northwest for each of them.
